Simpson self-drilling flat head screw with wings is available in type 410 stainless steel. Wings above drill point provide clearance hole in work piece so it won’t climb up the shank; wings break off as point engages the steel substrate. Type 410 stainless steel is hardened through heat treatment, allowing it to drill through metal. It does not offer the same corrosion resistance of 305 or 316 stainless steel
